IPPs Mentor at Millside School

Millside School is Slough’s secondary special school for pupils experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. As well as providing an “outstanding” educational experience (Ofsted 2011), we also provide a wide range of enrichment activities and a sports programme that focuses on raising self esteem whilst developing social and interpersonal skills. Our dedicated staff team are highly skilled and committed to providing high quality education for some of the most challenging pupils in the borough.

The challenging role under the supervision of the IPPs Coordinator will be to mentor a small number of pupils, who because of their complex needs require an alternative educational approach.

As a IPPs Mentor, you will provide intensive support and mentoring to these pupils on a daily basis. Every pupil will be monitored for their attainment and progress through detailed records and evidence using our established systems. You will liaise with the offsite and vocational providers who will be delivering the majority of the IPPs pupils’ programmes, collating information on pupil progress. The role also requires the IPPs Mentor to develop positive and supportive relationships with the parents and carers of the pupils you are mentoring.

If you have the skills and experience of mentoring young people and believe you can be a positive role model through your own interests and skills including sport, ICT, creative arts, music and other talents, we would like to hear from you.

Experience of working with young people who find a mainstream school environment challenging is essential. This includes pupils who have significant emotional needs.
